Seth Lloyd (MIT):
The quantum geometric limit
Abstract:
This talk derives quantum limits to
the measurement of space-time geometry. Combining quantum limits to measurement
accuracy of clocks and signals as in the global positioning system (GPS) with
Einstein's theory of general relativity provides a quantum geometric limit to
the number of elementary events -- ticks of clocks and clicks of detectors --
that can occur within a space-time volume.
