Shear viscosities of a strongly coupled anisotropic plasma

Abstract:

Hydrodynamic simulations of heavy ion collisions suggest that the produced quark-gluon plasma has an extremely small shear viscosity over entropy ratio. It turns out that the ratio is remarkably close to the value calculated with the use of gauge-gravity duality for an isotropic supersymmetric Yang-Mills plasma. In this talk I want to discuss a special anisotropic set up recently proposed by Mateos and Trancanelli and comment on the changes of the shear viscosities due to the anisotropy.
