FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
We cordially invite you to participate in the
fourth "Vienna Central European Seminar on Particle Physics
and Quantum Field Theory", which will take place at the
Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna, Boltzmanngasse
5, A-1090 Vienna, from Friday November 30 to Sunday December
02, 2007.
This year, "COMMUTATIVE AND NONCOMMUTATIVE
QUANTUM FIELDS" has been chosen as subject. Recent
developments and new phenomena in relativistic quantum field
theory are discussed within the framework of local quantum physics
in its algebraic formulation as well as by deforming space time.
Aspects of renormalization are dealt with.
We are pleased to announce the lecturers invited
to this year's seminar:
Dorothea Bahns (Hamburg) |
A.P. Balachandran(Syracuse) |
Detlev Buchholz (Goettingen)
|
Masud Chaichian (Helsinki) |
Sergio Doplicher (Rome) |
Stefan Hollands (Goettingen) |
Gandalf Lechner (Vienna) |
Vincent Rivasseau (Paris) |
Philippe Roche (Montpellier) |
Peter Schupp (Bremen) |
Richard Szabo (Edinburgh) |
The new seminar series "Vienna Central
European Seminar on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory"
was created 2004 and is intended to provide stimulating interactions
between leading researchers and promising junior physicists.
A considerable number of junior scientists are expected to participate
in this meeting, as we received special grants for them. Details
on application procedures and the distribution of financial
resources can be found in the Second
Announcement.
The seminar is supported by
The Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and
Research |
The High Energy Physics Institute of the Austrian
Academy of Sciences |
The Erwin Schrödinger International Institute
of Mathematical Physics. |
We are trying to create a platform for junior
scientists: Speakers are to be selected from among them, discussion
rounds and poster sessions shall be held. It is our special
intention that the innovative character of the meeting will
push forward scientific contacts and collaborations.
Moreover, the "Vienna Central European
Seminars on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory"
intends to be a forum for coordinating conferences, schools
and graduate courses in the Central European region. Please
see the webpage http://cepgc.phy.hr/
for information on the "Central European Joint Program
of Doctoral Studies in Theoretical Physics". Nine Central
European universities and institutions have joined in a collaboration
to strengthen and develop their Ph.D. programmes.
Specifically, as an introduction to the subject
of this year's Vienna Seminar two
intensive courses will be held in parallel:
"Quantum Field Theory and Noncommutative
Geometry" by Harald Grosse
"Local Quantum Physics" by Jakob Yngvason
Vienna, 24 - 28 September
2007
Attending
the courses will be free of charge, financial support for living
expenses is available for MSc or PhD students coming from the
partner institutions of the "Central
European Joint Program of Doctoral Studies in Theoretical Physics".
We remain with sincere regards, yours
Helmuth Hüffel
