PARTICLE PHYSICS AND THE LHC

Michael Ramsey-Musolf (Madison):

Particle physics with ultracold neutrons

Abstract:

The search for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) includes a variety of studies at the "Intensity Frontier". From a theorist's perspective, I discuss the opportunities for such studies using ultracold neutrons, focusing on searches for a permanent electric dipole moment of the neutron and precision studies of neutron decay parameters. I will comment on how these studies complement BSM searches at the Large Hadron Collider and at the cosmological frontier.
