Advancements in Simulations of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics

Abstract:

I will give an introduction to Lattice QCD with emphasis on advanced fermion formulations and their simulation. In particular, Overlap fermions will be presented, a quite novel fermionic discretization scheme that is able to exactly preserve chiral symmetry on the lattice. I will discuss efficiencies of state-of-the-art algorithms on highly scalable supercomputers and I will show that, due to many algorithmic improvements, Overlap simulations will soon become feasible for realistic physical lattice sizes. Finally I am going to sketch the status of some current large scale lattice QCD simulations.
