Perturbative QCD for the LHC

Abstract:

I motivate the need for predictions of standard model processes at the LHC at leading order and beyond. Recent developments in computing scattering amplitudes are reviewed. I describe the limitations of tree-level predictions, and how they may be improved at next-to-leading order. The current status of the field is discussed.
