Gandalf Lechner (Vienna):
Wedge-local Quantum Fields and Interaction
Abstract:
In the construction of relativistic quantum field theories, field
operators which are not point-localized, but rather localized in wedge-shaped
regions of d-dimensional Minkowski space, are a novel tool. We present a
family of concrete examples of such wedge-local quantum fields in
4-dimensional spacetime by making use of a correspondence between wedges and
noncommutativity parameters. It is then discussed to which degree models
formulated in terms of wedge-local fields comply with the principle of
locality. One of our examples is closely related to the free field on
non-commutative Minkowski space, which can also be understood as a
wedge-local quantum field.
