November 25 - 27, 2005
"FRONTIERS IN ASTROPARTICLE PHYSICS"
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
We cordially invite you to participate in the
second "Vienna Central European Seminar on Particle Physics
and Quantum Field Theory", which will take place at the Department
of Theoretical Physics of the University of Vienna, Boltzmanngasse
5, A-1090 Vienna, from Friday Nov. 25 to Sunday Nov. 27, 2005.
This year, "Frontiers in Astroparticle
Physics" has been chosen as subject. Spectacular
observational progress leads us to surprising conclusions about
the nature of the Universe. Cosmic concordance, a consistent picture
of the Universe where the very small meets the very large, seems
to emerge. In the seminar we will cover recent developments, both
experimental and theoretical.
The new seminar series "Vienna Central European
Seminar on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory" was
created 2004 (see here
for details) and is intended to provide stimulating interactions
between leading researchers and promising junior physicists. We
are presently in the course of inviting speakers and will announce
their names in the near future. A considerable number of junior
scientists are expected to participate in this meeting, as we
received special grants for them. Details on application procedures
and the distribution of financial resources shall follow.
The seminar is supported by
The Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science
and Culture |
The High Energy Physics Institute of the Austrian
Academy of Sciences |
The Erwin Schrödinger International Institute
of Mathematical Physics. |
We are trying to create a platform for junior
scientists: Speakers are to be selected from among them, discussion
rounds and poster sessions shall be held. It is our special intention
that the innovative character of the meeting will push forward
scientific contacts and collaborations.
Moreover, the "Vienna Central European Seminars
on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory" should become
a unique forum for coordinating conferences, schools and graduate
courses in the Central European region. Please see the webpage
http://www.univie.ac.at/central.europe
for information on forthcoming activities in the Central European
region and also submit
details about your own events.
We remain with sincere regards, yours
Helmuth Hüffel
